Hello! Thanks in advance for finding and reading my first blog post. My goal with this inaugural post is to have you get to know me and a bit of my background. Feel free to ask any questions/leave comments, I’d love to hear from you!
I grew up here in VT right over in Northfield. I went to school at Northfield High School, and after that went to Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences in Boston where I received my Pharmacy degree. I stayed in the area and worked in Boston for about five years.
Eventually, I felt it was time to get back to Northfield; soon after moving back home, I started working at Dartmouth in the outpatient pharmacy. After Dartmouth, I continued working in pharmacies in the area for about 15-20 years. I had been working in pharmacies for the better part of my life, and while I enjoyed my career, I knew something was missing. In 2009, I took a year off to travel and figure out what my next step would be. I made a list of the things I wanted in life, that list included knowing that I wanted to use my pharmacy degree; I wanted to continue to be in healthcare; I wanted to help women and children, and nature was (and still is) very important to me. So I traveled throughout the South West United States and parts of South America experiencing life and continuing to think about my list and where this journey might take me.
I ended up in Joshua Tree, CA, where I ran into a Naturopath. We got to talking and after hearing about his career I knew that was what I wanted to do. This experience was soon into my year off, which gave me a bit of time to consider things and look a little more into becoming a Naturopath, and what I might have to do to get that degree. I continued to travel but 6 months later I found myself back in Joshua Tree for a conference and I met up with a woman who was a Naturopath. She advised me on everything I needed to know to achieve my goal of becoming a Naturopath. So I packed up my life and moved to Portland Oregon. In Portland, I attended NCNM, which is now NUNM (National University of Natural Medicine). After I received my degree I came back to Vermont where I now practice here at River Street Wellness with Eric Silvers, CMT., and Joshua Singer, L. AC.
Thanks for reading me through and again - please feel free to comment below or reach out if I can answer any questions you might have.
